Instead of accumulating things on the shelves in the closet, start the year with a clean and well-organized place in which you live. Here are 5 simple ways to get together and take responsibility for the cleanliness of your 2019 home:
Down with the old stuff
If you are tired of the mess in the house and finally decided to deal with it, the first thing you need to do is get rid of old things. Spend a day (or two) to walk through the cabinets, shelves, drawers, to throw away things that you do not need. One good rule is: “If you don’t use it, get rid of it.” Give things to charity, give to friends or family or sell. Once you get rid of unnecessary items that just take up space, you will be surprised at how much better each room in your house looks.
Find a place to store things in each room.
After you throw away unnecessary things, it's time to find a place to store the necessary ones. Put in order the books and magazines, stacked on the tables and coffee tables, constantly scattered clothes. Instead of drowning in disarray, buy bookshelves that you will definitely use. You can also purchase decorative baskets and trays for storing things in the kitchen, in the bedroom and in the bathroom.
Furniture with double function
Consider buying furniture that has a dual storage function. There are beds, ottomans, coffee tables and much more, in which there is enough space for many things. This will be especially useful if you expect guests on holidays.
Use the walls
Maximize the walls by adding hooks. This will free up other places in the house. On the hooks, you can hang everything - from laundry bags (instead of baskets on the floor) and neatly finishing jackets in the hallway, and not crumpled in the closet. You can even hang up extra blankets in the guest bedroom if there is no space for them.
Try to keep your house clean.
In order to really stick to cleanliness in 2019, you must clean very often. Simply, if you do it once, and then immediately return to the old templates, nothing will change, so do it every day. This means that there are no more clothes on the floor and no more books on the kitchen table. Get rid of what you do not use, and make sure that you remain committed to the fight against chaos.
